The wine domaine was created by Michel and Xavier at the end of the 1980s. It sits on hillsides that had been uncultivated for more than 40 years. The slopes were cleared and the soil was turned over to a great depth, the stone walls were rebuilt, and the terraces were laid out ready to be entirely replanted. The domaine has gone from its original 1.5 hectares to over 14 hectares of south and south-east facing terraced vineyards lying at altitudes of between 126 and 350 metres on slopes whose gradients range from 40 to 60%.
Condrieu Résurgence: On the Chavanay hillside at “Le Rivoires”, the Viognier is perfectly at home with a lovely underground spring beneath it. Here, the small golden grapes are harvested and then transferred into barrels for fermentation. The 8-10 months of barrel ageing on the fine lees preserves the generous fruity character of the Viognier grapes resulting in a rich, aromatic wine.
Condrieu La Légende: A magnificent, vertiginous valley overlooking the medieval village of Malleval. Sheltered from the winds, it has to contend with the heat of the scorching hot summers. It is said that the first fruit of the year is always found on these terraces. This wine is vinified in barrels at low temperature and then aged for around 10 months on its fine lees which are regularly stirred up to help perfect the smoothness of the Condrieu.
