Roland Grangier’s vineyards cover 12 hectares in Chavanay, in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional du Pilat. Farming, be it livestock rearing, arboriculture or viticulture, is in the family’s blood.
Marc Manoa, Roland’s grandfather, was a farmer and grower with vineyards in the commune of Pélussin. He produced wine as well as farming dairy cows.
Charles Grangier, Roland’s father, spent a few years working on his brother-in-law’s farm before setting up a mixed cropping business (vines and fruit trees) in the commune of Chavanay.
In 2002, Roland Grangier created Domaine Grangier with 1.5 hectares of vines. He took over the vines from his parents and a neighbouring grower. He expanded the vineyards by planting vines for Saint Joseph white, Saint Joseph red and Condrieu, to devote the domaine entirely to winegrowing.
After two years of construction, Roland and Céline Grangier moved into a new winery in 2012 along with a cellar, a vat room and a tasting room.
Roland looks after the vineyards, the winemaking and customer hospitality. His wife, Céline, assists him and handles the administrative work, customer hospitality, trade shows and order processing. Roland Grangier’s vineyards include several plots located in the commune of Chavanay, with south-facing terroirs on the Condrieu hillsides and Saint Joseph plots on the upper slopes.
Roland Grangier strives to produce superb grapes and high-quality wines.
